COVID awareness in five languages
“We’re not saving lives” is one of the oldest jokes in advertising. But sometimes, we get a chance to.

In 2021, the Illinois Department of Human Services wanted help raising COVID awareness among immigrant and refugee populations – specifically speakers of Arabic, Mandarin, Polish, Spanish, and Urdu.
We had to not only determine the most relevant messages for each group, but also make sure that they were conveyed in an authentic manner.

Arabic and Urdu
Messaging stressed that it was important to get diagnosed early and that there was no shame in getting COVID.

Mandarin, Polish, and Spanish
Messaging focused on how gatherings can spread the disease as well as the importance of early diagnosis.
